The nice people at #Selected asked us if we’d let people know about their event this week. We looked at the line-up and noticed it includes local-boys-making-good Dialect and Weezy Jefferson, as well as the most excellent Lady Sanity, and Empress Imani. So we said yeah, ok then. Worth a look if you like a bit of grime served alongside your hip hop.

#Selected is back with an underground extravaganza! Returning to Hifi Club Leeds November 9th, the night will celebrate the hottest talent from emerging artists in the urban scene.

#Selected transcends the expectations of a regular club night – in partnership with Leeds Student Radio it puts artists in the spotlight, showcasing their skills in front of a live audience and on air.

The station’s DJs have worked hard to curate an eclectic line up of artists who are making a buzz in the Grime, Bass, Hip Hop and Reggae genres. Headlining is rap-battle champion, Dialect, who has been at the forefront of both the Leeds Grime and Hip Hop scenes. But it doesn’t stop there, joining him will be Birmingham-based Lady Sanity and BBC Radio 1Xtra stars MC Weezy Jefferson and Reggae queen, Empress Imani. And of course, in tune with the city’s musical vibe, DJs TACAT, Callum Walton & George Blewitt and label Youth Club Sounds will be taking to the decks for Bassy and Futurebeats inspired sets.

Since it burst onto the scene in 2014, #Selected has grabbed the attention of the underground quicker than a toddler with a sugar rush and a middle-child complex. Quickly becoming one of the most highly sought after platforms for undiscovered artists.

Leeds Student Radio will produce a 2 hour #Selected preview show 8-10pm leading up to the main event with interviews and exclusive tracks and mixes from the line up.

From 10pm #Selected will be broadcast live from Hifi Club with live presenters introducing each act until its close at 3am. You can listen to it here:
